Our favorite Bachelor pops the question

“The Bachelorette” also-ran Chris Lambton has found a bride — and not one rose was exchanged during the romantic weekend proposal!

The Dennis landscaper, who was sent packing by Williamstown homegal Ali Fedotowsky on the ABC show last year, popped the question to fellow reality show gal Peyton Wright on Saturday night as they cuddled by a fire pit he constructed in his backyard just for the Big Moment.

“It was perfect,” Lambton told the Track. “It was a beautiful night.”

The Dennis hottie said before he got down on one knee to ask the former “Bachelor Pad” gal to be his wife, he rang up Peyton’s dad in Texas to ask for her hand.

“I’m old fashioned that way,” laughed Chris. “And the man’s from the South, I didn’t want him to pull a gun on me.”

Lambton presented Wright with a 11⁄2 carat diamond designed by her fave jeweler David Yurman. But he skipped the whole rose thing, which is so much a part of “The Bachelorette” brouhaha. In fact, he said, after his thorny TV experience, “I will never, EVER buy her roses.” And who could blame him?

Pretty Peyton, who sells jock apparel in Texas, was expected to move north in November, but her honey hopes she’ll pack much quicker!

“She really loves it here,” said Lambton.

No date has been set because the happy couple has decided to put a two-week moratorium on wedding talk “so we can just enjoy it.” However, Chris told us he and his bride-to-be have thought about doing the deed on the Cape or in the Carolinas, a half-way point between Massachusetts and Texas.

In the meantime, you can congratulate Chris when he puts in an appearance today in Hyannis at Quahog Day, and again at Fenway Park [map] tomorrow where he and Peyton will take part in Cape Cod Day at the ballpark.

So it’s sounds like Mizz Ali is way in the rear-view mirror, Chris.

“Oh, yeah, that was over on the plane ride home,” he said, referring to the trip back apres Rose Ceremony. “Peyton is incredible.”

Flashback Friday Feature: Chris Lambton

Posted By karenstivali on May 6, 2011

While most past contestants from The Bachelor/Bachelorette will agree that the best aspects of being on the show are the AMAZING (drink) travel opportunities and the number of lasting friendships they make, many also believe in using their time in the spotlight to bring attention to causes they hold dear. All of the above is true for today’s featured guest. Fans will remember him as the lovable, big-hearted Cape Cod boy from Ali Fedotowsky’s season of the Bachelorette. Time to catch up with Chris Lambton….

1. What was your favorite experience while on The Bachelorette?

Favorite experience was definitely the travel. I mean when can you travel around the world for “free” and stay in beautiful hotels and do crazy adventures!

2. What was the most difficult aspect of being on the show?

The most difficult experience about being on the show was being away from my family and friends. I talk to my family every day and have a really close group of friends, so to not be able to talk to them AT ALL was the hardest part.

3. What unexpected thing happened as a result of being on the show? Friends? A new way of looking at things?

The most unexpected part of the show was the great group of friends I made.  You would think that all those guys together competing for a girl would cause drama and hatred, but it caused just the opposite on our season.  I came out of it with some really great friends who I talk to all the time and get together with as much as possible. And Roberto, who I “lost to” is one of my close friends too.

4. What are you working on now?

I am now back on Cape Cod working with my brother and dad, landscaping for our company. My brother and I own our company, E. Lambton Landscaping, and are just working and living!

5. What charities have you supported? Have you teamed up with any other past contestants?

I have supported Compassionate Care ALS (organization that helped my mom when she was sick, that I help all I can), the NOAH Shelter which helps homeless on Cape Cod, any military/soldier charity benefit I can do, and anything to do with hospitals and nurses as my mom was a nurse!

I have teamed up quite a bit with people for charity. I have run a race for Compassionate Care ALS with Tyler Vermett (from my season), I’m also doing a fundraiser dinner for Compassionate Care ALS with Kasey Kahl (also my season) and Peyton Wright.

I’m running the Tough Mudder with Kasey Kahl and Tyler Vermett and some Real World, Biggest Loser and Big Brother people for the Wounded Warrior project for soldiers.

Reality people have a soapbox so we should use it for good and for giving back!

(Editor’s note: The Tough Mudder is this weekend, 5/7/11, so please join me in wishing Chris and the others good luck!)

Speed Round:

1. Take out or dine out? Cook it myself…. I’m a great cook!

2. Plain or peanut? Plain

3. Coke or Pepsi? Don’t like soda….not good for you

4. Beach or lake? BEACH. I’m a Cape Cod boy, that’s the only answer!!

5. Breast or thigh? Breast

6. Pajamas or nothing? Boxers

7. Out to the movies or home with the DVR? DVR

8. Popcorn or Twizzlers? Reese’s Pieces

9. Fancy restaurant or local diner? Local diner or dive bar, all the way

10. Chocolate or vanilla? Black Raspberry

11. Power to fly or power to be invisible? Fly, all the way

12. Boxers or briefs? Boxer briefs

‘Bachelorette’ hunk: true TV love is tough

By Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa with Megan Johnson

Wednesday, March 16, 2011 - Updated 3 hours ago

In a not-so-shocking twist, real life was no bed of roses for reality TV couple Brad Womack and Emily Maynard, the Southern belle who got the final rose and a marriage proposal from “The Bachelor.” But if Web reports are true and their TV engagement is already off, it’s no surprise to “The Bachelorette” hunk Chris Lambton.

“It didn’t really look like they were in love when they were sitting together on that couch,” the Cape Cod landscaper told the Track yesterday. “They looked like two random people sitting next to each other.”

As we’ve told you oh-so-many times before, Chris was the producers’ first choice to be “The Bachelor” after Ali Fedotowsky ditched him in favor of Roberto Martinez in the finale of last season’s “The Bachelorette.” But the former schoolteacher bailed, and retread Womack was given a second run for the roses, which concluded Monday with him getting down on one knee and asking for Emily’s hand.

In true “Bachelor” fashion though, the fairy tale was short-lived and the couple revealed they had broken up once and postponed a planned marriage since the series finished taping.

Lambton, who hadn’t watched the show this season, confessed he tuned in to see the last half of the finale and the “After the Final Rose” TV special that followed, because the Celtics [team stats] were playing a “crappy game” Monday night against the Nets.

And he was less than shocked when Brad and Emily revealed their romantic turmoil — which appeared to stem from the fact that Em was rather put out that Brad continued to romance the other ladies on the show after he contends he had fallen for her! Um, hello, didn’t she watch the show before she signed on???

“The stress of being separated for two months while the show is on the air is tough,” Lambton said. “You can’t even be with that person while they watch you every Monday night interacting with 24 other females. And then they start wondering, ‘Did he really love me more than that one or that one . . . ?’ ”

Lambton said it’s also tough for a TV couple, who are really just getting to know each other, to deal with the public scrutiny.

“Look at how many Hollywood couples break up because they have the harsh eye of the people on them constantly,” he said. “I still have viewers who try to tell me who I should be dating.” (Chris, BTW, is currently keeping company with “The Bachelor” Season 10 castoff Peyton Wright.)

Chris said he still stays in touch with Ali and Roberto, who appeared on the “After the Final Rose” special to offer Brad and Emily advice as one of three “Bachelor

Bachelorette” couples who actually made it. But while things look bleak for Brad and Emily, Chris thinks Ali and Roberto have a shot at Happily Ever After.

“Three couples out of like 20, the odds are not in your favor,” he said. “But they are still planning to get married next year and I think they will.”

Reality TV rejects find love

By Gayle Fee And Laura Raposa / Inside Track

“Bachelorette” star Chris Lambton and girlfriend Peyton Wright at the Ellie Fund’s Oscar Night Gala at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston.

Here at the Track, we’re suckers for a happy ending. So when “The Bachelorette” castoff Chris Lambton showed up at the Ellie Fund Oscar Night bash at the Mandarin-Oriental with his new ladylove Peyton Wright on his arm, we got a real rush of the warm and fuzzies.

“She’s got spunk,” joked Chris about his galpal, a former dance team member, who now sells cheerleading and dance team apparel in Dallas.

“Yes, I was the girl in the sequined half-top and black pants dancing at half time,” Peyton told the Track.

Word is, the hunky 33-year-old Cape Cod landscaper and his former “Bachelor Pad” contestant sweetheart have been racking up the frequent flier miles since meeting at an event in North Carolina. (Chris’ pal Jesse Beck, who appeared on “The Bachelorette” with Lambton and “Bachelor Pad” with Peyton, introduced the two.)

As you well know, Lambton was the first runner up in the run for the roses on last season’s installment of “The Bachelorette.” In the season finale, Ali Fedotowsky chose former minor league ballplayer Roberto Martinez over Chris, who was then pegged as the obvious choice to be the star of the current run of “The Bachelor.” But Lambton decided he’d had enough of public dating and turned down the role — then promptly found himself a galpal on his own!

As for Peyton, she appeared in Season 10 of “The Bachelor,” getting dumped in grand fashion by “Officer and a Gentleman” Andy Baldwin who left her standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. She resurfaced last year on “Bachelor Pad.”

While Peyton admits to dragging her hunky honey “to about a million weddings” this year, Lambton said he seems to get a lot of attention from guests – not because of his TV stint – but for his Massachusetts accent!

“Wherever we go down south, people ask him to ‘talk Boston,’ ” said Wright. “He entertained an entire wedding the other weekend.”

And Chris’ sisters-in-law have picked up Peyton’s penchant for “y’all.”

“It’s like the flu, everyone is catching the y’all,” laughed Lambton, who, if we may say, looked especially handsome in his tux the other night.

“I mean, I like his T-shirts and hoodies, but doesn’t he look nice,” asked the southern belle.

Um, no argument here.

Hottie raises money for charity

“Bachelorette” reality-TV star Chris Lambton of Dennis and Julie Zaks of Dorchester meet for a lunch date in Hyannis on Saturday. “I nearly fell down,” she said of when she heard the news that she had the winning bid for the date.

Cape Cod Times/Steve Heaslip

HYANNIS — Julie Zaks had to admit a lunch date with hunky Dennis resident and former "Bachelorette" contestant Chris Lambton felt "surreal."

Zaks, of Dorcester, won the lunch in a raffle after donating $90 to the 7th annual NOAH Telethon, a fundraiser for the Hyannis homeless shelter, in December.

Lambton, 33, was the last of 25 candidates to be rejected by Ali Fedotowsky in Bora Bora during last season's reality show "The Bachelorette." The owner of E. Lambton Landscaping as been making himself useful to many charitable groups post-show.

A date with Lambton also is one of the prizes offered at an online silent auction to benefit the Ellie Fund, an organization helping breast cancer patients.

Attention ladies, bidding lasts until March 11!

At The Naked Oyster on Main Street in Hyannis on Saturday, Lambton reflected on the life-changing year that began with a landscaping customer from Yarmouth, who nominated him for the show.

"I was landscaping at this woman's house and we were talking," said the blue-eyed, broad-shouldered bachelor.

She happened to be a big fan of ABC's reality show, "The Bachelorette," and asked him whether she could take his picture and nominate him.

The woman, who Lambton called Michelle from New Jersey and Yarmouth, made a convincing case that he was a sweet, small town guy who worked as a teacher in New York City. He returned to Dennis to help when his mother became ill with Multi System Atrophy, a motor neuron disease with symptoms similar to ALS. She died in 2008.

Lambton's story pulled on heart strings, and his looks didn't hurt either.

When he got the first call from ABC, Lambton declined. He said he had no desire for his private life to become public.

But he relented and went through three months of filming, a strange time being sequestered with the other contestants, and allowed no access to friends, family, newspapers or television.

Lambton nearly won, but Fedotowsky ultimately picked Roberto Martinez, to whom she's now engaged.

Then Lambton emerged from the reality show bubble, rejected by one bachelorette but beloved by others.

Many others.

"It's bizarre," he said. "A year ago, I was just here on Cape Cod working with my brother. I was nobody. Now," he laughs, "I was in an airport the other day and a girl came up to me and asked to her have picture taken with me. It's definitely been life-changing."

He does have a girlfriend from Dallas, Texas, he said. They met in October when he was in North Carolina helping out at another charity event, the Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic.

Lambton didn't want to go into details about his new squeeze.

But he did say she's not the jealous type. She understands all these dates are for a good cause.

Zaks wore a pretty dress for Saturday's date. A legal assistant who lives with her 83-year-old grandmother, Zaks donated to the NOAH Telethon because she has a friend who is struggling on the Cape. Yes, the fact she might also win a date with Lambton motivated her.

When she won, "I nearly fell down," she said.

Zaks said she watched the show and cheered for Lambton because he's a fellow Massachusetts resident.

Lambton still gets lots of offers to help out charities. He picks and chooses, but clearly says yes to many.

"The reality show thing can be used to give back," he said.

Rick Brigham, the NOAH development coordinator, said Lambton helped the telethon greatly. Thanks in part to the Cape reality TV celeb, the telethon raised $73,000, up from $60,000 the previous year.

Dinner date with Bachelor Chris Lambton at Willowbend in Mashpee up for bid

Online auction benefits the Ellie Fund

The Cape’s favorite bachelor, Dennis landscaper Chris Lambton, is up for bid! The runner-up from last season of ABC’s The Bachelorette is offering up a Cape Cod dinner date as part of an online auction for the Ellie Fund’s 15th Annual Oscar Night Gala. The date includes a complimentary dinner with Lambton at Mashpee’s exclusive Willowbend Country Club prepared by Executive Chef Paul Cunningham. Round trip car service will also be provided. And the winner can take up to two friends if she chooses!

The package is part of an online auction in conjunction with the Ellie Fund’s Oscar Night Gala, which will be held Sunday, February 27th at the Mandarin Hotel in Boston. All proceeds from the auction and the party are used to support the Ellie Fund's mission to fight breast cancer and ease its effects on women and families across Massachusetts.

Bidding opened on Friday, February 11 and closes on March 11. Bids and more information can be found here or at www.elliefund.org.

Since returning from the show and turning down ABC’s offer to return as The Bachelor this season, Lambton has been able to parlay his reality fame into raising money for numerous charities, including the NOAH Shelter, Franciscan Hospital for Children, Compassionate Care ALS, The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, and others.

Wetpaint Exclusive! Chris Lambton Loves Peyton Wright, Hates Reality TV

Photo: Peyton and Chris come out as a couple at a Bachelor alums reunion in NYC.

Bachelorette Season 6 runner-up Chris Lambton and Bachelor Season 10 and Bachelor Pad contestant Peyton Wright are an official — and extremely adorable — couple. Wetpaint caught up with the twosome at the Bachelor reunion in NYC on Saturday, January 29, and Chris was quite the prankster, hugging his fellowBachelorette alums while they were in the middle of interviews and trying to annoy other members of the press during interviews. (He even gave us a free hat at one point, for no apparent reason.) Who knew he was such a cut-up?

But Peyton and Chris have all the trappings of being the real deal. In fact, they revealed which newly engaged Bachelor Pad guy set them up. Chris also described his recent outing with Ali and Roberto, and explained why he refuses to watch Brad’s current season of The Bachelor.

Wetpaint: Any regrets doing the show?

Peyton: No, I don’t have any regrets. It was a great time, made some great friends.

Chris: No regrets. I have great friends I made out of it, I have a beautiful girl next to me, so are you kidding me? Zero regrets.

WP: Was there an amount of money they could have offered you to be the next Bachelor?

Chris: I’m not the kind of person that can be bought. I like who I am, I like my family, I have values. You can’t put a price on who you are.

Photo: Chris and Roberto embrace like old buddies at the Red Sox game on September 7, 2010.

WP: Chris, I have to say, I was convinced that Ali was going to choose you, and was sort of devastated when she didn’t. [Peyton laughs] Do you still keep in touch with her at all?

Chris: I actually hung out with Ali and Roberto in Massachusetts in September and went to a Red Sox game with them, and Roberto’s my very best friend from the show, so I talk to him all the time. And you know what? It’s one of those things where, like, the two of us didn’t connect, she picked Roberto, the two of them connect. Hey, you know what? Everything happens for a reason. You know what? My reason is great. [Gestures to Peyton.]

WP: No problem with how you were portrayed on the show?

Chris: I’m sure everyone has a problem somewhat, but–

Peyton: I feel like you do everything and you say everything, so it’s your own fault if you don’t like what’s shown.

WP: Peyton, what was your experience like on Bachelor Pad?

Peyton: Oh, I loved it. I think Bachelor Pad — it was much more relaxed then Bachelor. You’re competing for money versus a man. It’s much more realistic, and it’s competitive. It was fun!

WP: Was there any connection with Jesse [Beck]?

Peyton: No, he’s like my little brother.

Chris: Jesse’s how we got together. He was my best friend on the show — by far, best friend. He’s my boy. The reason why we got together is, I had an event in North Carolina, and I had an “and one.”

Peyton: “Plus one.”

Chris: He was my “and one.” So we ended up going down there, and he was like, “Oh, this girl from Bachelor Pad is close by. She’s gonna come hang out.” And I was like, “I don’t watch that crap.” [Peyton laughs] So then she shows up, she walked into the store, and I was like, “Oh, my God.” Jesse brought us together, so Jesse — thank you.

Peyton: He’s actually engaged.

Photo: Chris Harrison tweeted about hanging with his Bachelor franchise family, Chris L., Jesse Beck, and Peyton Wright, in Raleigh.

WP: Is he really?

Peyton: He’s engaged, getting married in June.

WP: How did he meet her?

Peyton: They met the night of “The Men Tell All” that they filmed for their season.

WP: Someone involved with the show?

Peyton: No, he went out to a bar, met her at the bar that night. So it’s weird how it all works out.

WP: Do you watch the current season together?

Peyton: He doesn’t.

Chris: I don’t watch reality TV. It’s crap. I watch sports.

WP: You just happened to have ended up on the show.

Chris: I was asked to be on it by someone from the show.

WP: So you don’t know much about Brad?

Chris: I didn’t watch his first season, his second season, and I’m damn well not watching his third season.

WP: What else is new with you?

Chris: I’m back in the Cape. I try to keep it real with my brothers and my family, keep it low.

WP: And Peyton, who do you like for Brad?

Peyton: I really like Emily. I’m from the South. Good old Southern girl — I always root for my Southern girls.

WP: Do you watch it with any cast member from the show?

Peyton: I don’t. I record it.

WP: And who do you like to hang out with from the show?

Peyton: Gia. I love Gia — she’s my girl.
